TIME FOR REVOLUTION “But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us” (Eph. 2:4). GOD IS RAISING UP a “New-Breed” of believers. He is recruiting those who are sick and tired of play church—it’s time to GO TO WAR!, and RESCUE THE PERISHING. For, as our text indicates, God is rich in mercy—He wills no one to perish, as 2 Peter 3:9 says: “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” The aim of God, for these troubled days, is for people to repent and receive His mercy. God has promised that His Son would come again (Jesus the Christ came the first time to show mercy to both the “lost sheep of the house of Israel” (Matt. 10:6), and also, to bring the Gentiles into His saving mercies); His second coming will be to separate the sheep from the goats/the wheat from the tares. His promise refers to this second advent (v. 4), but in the meantime, He expects His servants/soldiers to bear witness of His name and rescue the perishing, for: “He is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” Delay of the Parousia ought, on this basis, to FIRE believers with evangelistic fervor—confronting both skeptics and the miserable. Love/Mercy There is plenty of HATE out there. There are plenty of mercenaries fighting for pay regardless of cause. But, we have the GREATEST CAUSE—to see the perishing rescued (saved eternally!). God’s/Jesus’ divine grace meets the sinful—in their condemned condition...and because of this grace, He is looking for a “FEW GOOD SOLDIERS” to fight for the souls of men and women. Their disposition towards the sinners (which SIN is an enemy to their cause) is one of mercy…a mercy that is rich, actually exhaustless (rich=plousios (G4145) =abundant). That special word agape (love, G26) means a love that impels one to sacrifice one’s self for the benefit of the object loved, hence, John 3:16. We would like to
